Jorge Alberto's story
Jorge is a hardworking, responsible man passionate about the work of the fields. He has worked in agriculture for 30 years with the help of his family, who have given him the knowledge of generations. He lives in the north of the country where agriculture and raising livestock are common. The main crops that Jorge cultivates are sorghum and corn. Jorge's children and a team of farm laborers help to maintain the crops and a small herd of cows. He wants to continue expanding his work to enjoy a better quality of life with his family and to provide more jobs for the community. This has lead him to seek financing from MiCrédito with Kiva. He will buy organic fertilizers, mineral soil pesticides, seeds, and pay the farm laborers to help with the harvest, all to have better yields. He currently distributes his products in local markets. His goal for the future is to continue expanding his business with distribution in as many of the Nicaraguan departments as possible.
