A loan helped to buy vegetables to resell.

Diokre Indamme Group's story

Oumou is the woman holding vegetables in her hands in the photo. She is fifty-two years old. She is the leader of the Diokre Indamme Group which means "peace" in the Peul language. She has been running a small business for eight years. She is married to a farmer and they have four children between the ages of thirteen and fifteen who attend school. She lives in Tambacounda, a region in the south of Senegal where she runs her businesses just as the other members of the group who are eight women.

Oumou is not educated but she is a hard-working woman who dreams of growing her business to increase her monthly turnover. She stocks up at local weekly markets to resell at her city's central market and at her home.

In this way, after having sold her vegetables, she buys food, clothing etc. for her children. But, she also helps her husband take care of the family's school fees and health care costs.
Just like all good saleswomen, for more than a year due to Covid-19, she has sometimes faced drops in sales most often related to market closures.
