João's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy more maize and common beans from smallholder farmers in his community to sell.

João's story

João is a 43-year-old Mozambican man. He lives in Manica with his wife and their three children. He is a humble and very hardworking man. He started working in agriculture when he was young and found in that activity a sustainable source of income.

Some years ago, João found cereals to be a good market to invest in. So, he decided to enter the trade, specializing in maize and common beans. Every day, João travels to other communities in order to search for the specific variety of maize or beans that his customers may be requesting at that time. Thanks to his hard work, he has established a solid market for his goods.

In order to keep on delivering products to his clients, João needs to acquire higher-quality cereals. For this reason, he is requesting his first Kiva loan to buy more maize and common beans from smallholder farmers in his community to sell in order to increase his family's income.
