but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy groceries, fuels and building materials.

Luse's story

Luse knows nothing more, but to be grateful after the devastation of Tropical Cyclone Yasa brought on December 2020. After hearing about families that hid in caves as all forms of shelter were gone with the wind, she continues to count her blessings.

However, with the twin effects of the Fijian recession (20% negative growth) caused by the COVID-19 and the devastation of T. C Yasa, Luse is not an exception as the entire nation is under the pressures of unforeseen circumstances.

She needs a loan to buy building materials to renovate her home, which is also the base for her Canteen operations. Luse’s recovery plan involves a revamped outlook in her business practices as she plans to include stocks of groceries, fuels, and cyclone ready items (batteries, torches, bottled water, transistor radios).

Luse is mindful of the effects TC Yasa has had on her kin and hopes that the revival of her business ensures the light at the end of the tunnel becomes more clear, not only for herself, but for her community and her island nation.
