A loan helped to pay for house repairs and open a kava business.

Adi Ana's story

Adi Ana lives in Nabouwalu, a village in the northern part of Fiji and a place that was badly affected by Tropical Cyclones Yasa. Her home was not spared by the wrath of the cyclones.

Adi Ana, mother of seven, and her husband provide for their large family by selling fish, but natural disasters - like cyclones - and exploitation of traditional fishing areas have greatly affected their income. They are therefore unable to meet their family needs, let alone repair house damages from the cyclones.

Adi Ana and her family are currently separated and living with different family members because of the condition of their home. As a mother, it pains Adi Ana to be separated from her children, especially during the current crisis. She is therefore kindly requesting your help so that she can fix her home and reunite with her children and husband. She also plans to use a portion of the loan to open a kava business, a drink prepared by sieving pounded, dried kava in a basin of water, to help with the family expenses and the repayment of her loan. She will purchase bales of dried kava and have them pounded and packed into various quantities to sell.

Your loan will reunite a family and bring back joy to a mother while also providing for their needs by ensuring a source of stable income.
