A loan helped to purchase foodstuffs, including rice, pepper, oil, flour, sugar, sausage, Maggi, fish and other assorted items to increase her business.

Mariatu's story

Greetings from Sierra Leone! This is 29-year-old Mariatu from Aberdeen branch. She is married with two children between the ages of 11 and 13 years old, and they are currently attending school. She started this business because she wants to take care of her family.

Mariatu runs a retail table business and sells fast food, rice, pepper, oil, Maggi, fish, and other assorted items to her customers around the community. Her other source of income is from her husband. She has been in this business for the past 10 years. Mariatu says her business is going well without any challenges.

She requested this loan through BRAC Sierra Leone to purchase foodstuffs, including rice, pepper, oil, flour, sugar, sausage, Maggi, fish and other assorted items to increase her business.

Mariatu says that the extra income from this loan will help her to take care of her family and to increase her business. In the future, she would like to expand it to a large scale. She says thanks to BRAC and Kiva for their support.
