Malong Anna's story

Malong Anna is a 37-year-old mother of three. Her children are 17, 12, and 4, and they are all in school. She is married, and her husband works for a 4-star hotel. She lives with her husband and children on her father's compound, which is located in an urban area surrounded by a lot of shanty houses. Her community is situated just a 10-minute walk away from the city of Port Vila, and the main industry is food. As COVID-19 has also affected Vanuatu, making a stable income can often be hard.

Malong Anna has requested a loan so she can purchase a bag of flour, cocoa powder, sugar, yeast, and baking trays. She will use these to bake delicious cakes for her customers. She wants to bake different kinds of cakes which will attract more customers that order from her. With the revenue earned, she will save up to open her own coffee shop.

She has been baking for the past 10 years. She learned her baking from her husband, who is a pastry chef. Malong Anna dreams of opening her own coffee shop so she can sell her baking in a place where expats and locals pass by. This is Malong Anna's third loan with South Pacific Business Development (Vanuatu) Ltd. She has faithfully repaid her previous loans on time. Through her loans, Malong Anna is empowered to make her business grow so she can become a successful entrepreneur.
