A loan helped to pay for farm inputs to improve her corn farm.

Margaret's story

Margaret (41 years old) is seeking a loan to pay for farm inputs to improve her corn farm. Agriculture plays a major role in the economic growth of Kenya by reducing poverty and creating employment. So, there is a need to invest in small-holder farmers such as Margaret who play a major role in transforming the economy. Margaret's curiosity and natural abilities have made her a successful farmer. Her primary income sources are dairy and crop farming. By engaging in these enterprises, she has been able to uplift her living standard. Margaret feels very happy to join Kiva and she believes it provides a solution to her hunger for success.

It takes a lot for a smallholder farmer to risk limited resources to expand a farm business. With the help from the lenders, Margaret will be able to pay the high cost of farm inputs that are necessary for expansion. A significant portion of the profit will be plowed back into the business to fuel growth as she sets a good foundation for her children. Margaret hopes to get help and contributions and she is grateful for it. She is looking forward to the financial support and hopes to get the trust of the funders.
