A loan helped to lease some extra land to expand her farming area so that she is able to grow more crops.

Agnes's story

Most of the Kenyan population directly depends on small-scale farming for their livelihood in rural areas.

Meet Agnes, who has defied the common thinking of most Kenyans about agriculture. She is 35 years old with four children. Agnes engages in farming together with her husband, where she plants maize, tomatoes, and other vegetables. The farm is in Matuu. Agnes practices agriculture with a difference, employing youthful energy, enthusiasm, and knowledge attained from years of experience. To sustain her family, she offers her produce to specific markets with specific needs, thus increasing her revenue. The major challenge she faces is finding land to lease to expand her business. However, She is happy that she has found a parcel of land to lease, and through the loan she receives, she will be able to begin work on it. Agnes is very determined to succeed. Because she is very disciplined with her finances, she plans to accumulate profits. In this way, Agnes will be able to provide a secure future for herself and educate her children as she works to become a large supplier of farm produce.
