Kathline's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to pay for a bag of kava and packs of cigarettes to stock her small kava bar to better provide for her customers.

Kathline's story

Kathline lives in one of the largest urban residential areas in Vanuatu, which is just 10 minutes drive outside Port Vila city. Her community relies on the food industry, but because Covid-19 has negatively affected Vanuatu, making a stable income can often be hard. Kathline is 24 years of age and she and her partner have one three-year-old child. She lives in her parents' compound in a small shanty home with her partner and child.

Kathline has asked for a loan so she can pay for a bag of kava and packs of cigarettes to stock for her customers. She will produce kava juice--a traditional drink that is usually for special ceremonies but also for social occasions such as after a stressful day at work for relaxation--for her customers. Kathline wants to become the best kava juice supplier in her community, which will help increase her revenue, which she will save up so she can purchase a piece of land for her family.

Kathline has been with South Pacific Business Development-Vanuatu Ltd for over a year now. This is her second loan. She faithfully repaid her first loan on time. Through her loans, Kathline is empowered to expand her business and become a successful businesswoman.
