A loan helped to purchase cosmetics and other assorted goods to sell.

Salamatu's story

Greetings from Sierra Leone! Salamatu is a 34-year-old client from the Waterloo branch. She is married and has two children (ages 3 and 8) who are currently in school. Salamatu started her business because she wanted to take care of her family.

She operates a vending stall where she sells cosmetics and other assorted goods to her customers in the community. Her other source of income is derived from her husband’s work. Salamatu has been in this business for the past 10 years. She says her business is doing well and not facing any challenges.

Salamatu requested a loan from BRAC Sierra Leone to purchase cosmetics and other assorted goods so that she can increase her business. She says that the extra income that results from this loan will allow her to take care of her family and increase her business. In the future, she would like to expand her business on a larger scale. She expresses her thanks to BRAC and Kiva for their support.
