A loan helped to buy more broilers and pigs.

Patzojon Grande Group's story

Rosa is a 34-year-old married woman who is the mother of three boys aged 10, 14 and 16 who are in primary and secondary school. She works diligently in her business raising laying hens, broilers and fattening pigs.

Rosa applied for her second Kiva loan to buy more broilers and pigs. Rosa is part of the Puente de Amistad Community Bank "Patzojon Grande" in the Department / state of Quiché. There are eight Maya K'iche 'women in the group who sell second-hand clothes and raise farm animals (chickens, pigs, goats). These women sell their products from their home and also in the markets close to their community.

The women meet monthly to pay the loan and receive training. They have the opportunity to support each other and learn about one aspect of four topics: business, women, health, family. A facilitator trains the women and uses pictures, diagrams, games and role plays to share the information. They also have access to preventive health services. This helpful combination of loans, education and healthcare is called "Microcredit Plus." It works! Thank you Kiva Lenders for your support!
