Emelyn's story

Emelyn S. is from the village of Upper Lamac, Oroquieta City. She is 39 years old. Emelyn is married and has 3 school-aged children. To make a living, Emelyn owns & operates a business venture in the agriculture sector raising crops. While not the only means for generating revenue, the main source of income for the business comes from cultivating fruit trees and harvesting fruit such as mangoes and avocados for sale. Emelyn has been engaged in her business for over 16 years and earns approximately 8,000 PHP a month for these activities. In 2008, Emelyn joined GDMPC to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and ability to engage in business activities. Emelyn has successfully repaid a previous loan of 10,000 PHP from GDMPC. Emelyn is requesting a new loan of 15,000 PHP which will be used to purchase new equipment and tools. This will be the second loan taken out by Emelyn from GDMPC. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to pay the tuition fees of her children.
