Ruth's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase 20 kilograms of laundry detergent to resell to her community to increase her income.

Ruth's story

Ruth lives in a village, which is located along the northern coastline of Efate Island. Her community is quite large. It has one of the local colleges situated in it.

The main industry there is agriculture and earning income from it has been satisfactory, despite the Covid-19 pandemic.

Ruth is 31 years old. She has a partner, who is currently in New Zealand doing seasonal work through the Recognized Seasonal Workers scheme. She has five adorable children, ages 18, 15, 10, 6, and 3, and they live in her own home.

Ruth has requested a loan, which she will pay for 20 kilograms of laundry soap that she gets from New Zealand to resell to her community to increase her income. She started her business in early 2020 by helping provide laundry soap to the community. This brings her joy as her customers' demands have grown.

Ruth dreams of opening up a retail shop so she can provide retail goods to meet her community's needs and wants.

Ruth has been with South Pacific Business Development (Vanuatu) Ltd for over two years now and this is her third loan. She has successfully repaid her previous loans on time.

Now, Ruth is motivated to expand her business and become a successful businesswoman.
