Leitalua Haina's story

Leitalua Haina is a 37-year-old mother of five. Her children are ages 15, 14, 7 and 4, and a baby who is 4 months old. She is married to a Recognized Seasonal Employer scheme worker who is currently in New Zealand working for their family. She lives with her children in her home, which is located in a village that is about 20 minutes' drive to Port Vila city.

Leitalua Haina's community is small, and the main industries are fishing and agriculture. Though COVID-19 has affected Vanuatu, making an earning has been satisfactory as a lot of locals desire the taste of locals crops, vegetables and fish.

Leitalua Haina has asked for a loan to help her purchase 40 liters of benzene fuel so that she can stock up her small fuel station to better provide for her customers. There is a high demand for fuel in her community; that is why she wants to be able to help her customers' demand.

She started off her business in early 2020 and has also been selling raw materials in her fridge to earn a little income. With the revenue earned, she will use complete her unfinished home.

This is Leitalua Haina's third loan with South Pacific Business Development (Vanuatu) Ltd. She has faithfully repaid her previous loans on time. Through her loans, Leitalua Haina is motivated to expand her business so she can better provide for her family's well-being.
