Duhanimbaraga Group's story

Duhanimbaraga is the name of a group of entrepreneurs near the Nyabiheke refugee camp, which is one of the six refugee camps in Rwanda. The word "Duhanimbaraga" is a Kinyarwanda phrase that means "Let's encourage each other" in English.

The members of this group are Chantal, Claudine, Donat, Kamanzi, Zarida, Pascal, Felicite, Emmanuel, Francois, Janviere, and Fred. They all started their businesses very small, but now the businesses have developed, and they are ready to take a group loan so they can get their operations to the next level. In fact, Duhanimbaraga is a savings group where all the members save together and share ideas and thoughts on how to improve their businesses, so they can support each other in their aspirations for growth.

Donat is one of the members of Duhanimbaraga group. He is a husband and father of four. His small store in Gatsibo allows him to support this family. He started the business with 100,000 RWF from his savings, and sells cereals, home utensils, and other in-demand staples in the community.

Over the years, the business has grown, and now Donat is requesting working capital to increase his stock so that he can meet customer demands. This infusion of capital will get his shop to the next level. Donat has the support of the other members of the lending group to ensure that they can support each other as their businesses grow.
