A loan helped to increase the inventory of his grocery store.

Shafadin's story

Shafadin is a refugee from Sudan living in one of Kenya’s refugee camps. He arrived in Kenya in 2004 and established the grocery store business a few years later. He is married with two children, and the store provides a stable means of livelihood for the family.

The store has experienced steady growth over the years, as it continues to build itself a rich base of loyal customers. The business exhibits signs of further growth, as it is strategically located, and the products are relatively priced in comparison to the rest of the businesses around the camp.

Shafadin successfully underwent AEC’s business training program geared towards financial management and increasing sales for micro-businesses within the camp. He successfully applied the skills in managing his business, which now boasts of improved cashflow and efficiency.

A loan to Shafadin will allow him to continue providing his community with more consumption options, while at the same time, supporting him to keep growing his business.
