A loan helped to add an inventory of general houseware items at the store.

Elias's story

Elias is a Kenyan entrepreneur who owns and runs a boutique and general merchandise store business in Kakuma Refugee Camp. He established his business in 2016 after identifying the gap at the camp and as a means of providing for his young family of three.

The store has experienced steady growth over the years and employs three staff who help in its daily operations. The business exhibits signs of further growth as it is strategically located, and the products are relatively priced in comparison to the rest of the businesses around the camp.

Elias successfully underwent AEC’s business training program geared towards financial management and increasing sales for micro-businesses within the camp. He successfully applied the skills in managing his business, which now boasts improved cashflows and efficiency.

A loan to Elias will allow him to add an inventory of general houseware items at the store and thus continue providing his community with more options, while at the same time supporting him to keep growing his business.
