Mugaza's story

Mugaza is a seasoned refugee entrepreneur of Somali descent who owns and runs a retail grocery food store business in the Kakuma refugee camp in Kenya. He arrived in Kenya in 2007 and after a while started the business as a means of provision for his young family of three.

Mugaza has a tremendous business experience that ranges from doing business in Somalia, the Dadaab refugee camp, and now the Kakuma refugee camp. The growth experienced in his business has seen him employ and support eight staff, who help in the daily operations.

Mugaza was an active participant in AEC’s business training program, which saw him acquire the necessary skills to manage and grow his business. His business is in need of additional financing to allow for its expansion.

A loan to Mugaza will allow him to restock grocery and food items in bulk so as to make use of the economies of scale, and hence continue providing his community with a variety of consumption options to choose from.
