A loan helped to purchase new species of flowers to grow in her flower garden so as to increase her income.

Elison Leitapau's story

Elison Leitapau lives in a village about 20 minutes' drive to Port Vila city. Her community is quite large, and the main industry is agriculture. As Vanuatu relies a lot on the agriculture industry for food and income, it has been easy to grow one's own food in the gardens.

Unfortunately, Covid-19 has impacted Vanuatu's tourism economy, making it hard for one to earn a steady income. Elison Leitapau is 31 years of age and has four beautiful children ages 11, 8, 7 and 2. She has her partner, who works at a retail shop. She lives with her partner and children in their own home.

Elison Leitapau has asked for a loan to help her purchase new species of flowers to grow in her flower garden so that she can better provide for her customers. She wants to plant new flower species as the demand for flowers has grown, both from locals and expats.

This will help to improve her revenue, which she will use to save up so that she can pay for a bus that will become a public transport. Elison Leitapau also dreams of opening up her own retail shop in the near future. She is empowered to make her business grow so that she can improve her family's living conditions.
