Zareena's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase kava plants, pay for processing and then sell them.

Zareena's story

Zareena is a well-known businesswoman in her community. She makes the loveliest and most delicious food packs and a wide range of Indian sweets. Ever since her husband was diagnosed with a terminal illness, Zareena has had to work harder to cover the family expenses and her husband's medical bills. Her collective income is still not enough so she kindly requests a loan so that she set up another business; a kava business this time.

She chose kava because she noticed the demand and lack of supply. She will use the money to purchase dried kava plants that she will pound and sell. Kava is highly consumed by the young men and women of Zareena's community. It is prepared by placing the kava powder in a muslin bag which they squeeze in a basin of water depending on the preferred concentration.
