Estrellitas Del Rejon Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase cucumbers, potatoes, carrots, tomatoes, apples, pears, melons, papayas, and pineapple in bulk.

Estrellitas Del Rejon Group's story

To eliminate the extreme poverty in Guatemala, many Maya women go to the local markets to offer their products. Likewise, Rosalía, 53 years old, operates her fruit and vegetable business.

She is married and the mother of two children, 13 and 15 years old. This business has allowed Rosalía to be self-sufficient and to generate her own income. With the earnings from the business, Rosalía sends her children to school. There are more and more customers who visit Rosalía's business. For this, she is asking for a third Kiva loan.

With the financing, Rosalía will be able to purchase cucumbers, potatoes, carrots, tomatoes, apples, pears, melons, papayas, and pineapple in bulk.

“Estrellitas Del Rejón” is the name of the communal bank made up of Rosalía and seven other women. These women are neighbors in a rural area of the department/state of Sacatepéquez. They are the owners of textile businesses and convenience stores, and raise animals and sell fruits and vegetables.

These women hope to participate in the monthly educational trainings on topics of finances, health, women and families. They also will be informed about the importance of using masks, social distancing, and the use of antibacterial gel.

Kiva lenders, the success and the undertaking of each Guatemalan woman is thanks to each one of you and to the loan program, informal education and health services of "Microcrédito Plus" through Friendship Bridge.
