Jeanne Mantala's story

Jeanne Mantala lives in a rural district which is located about 10 to 15 minutes drive from Port Vila city. Her community is quite large, and the main industry is agriculture. Vanuatu has lost the majority of its employment due to Covid-19, making it hard at times to earn a steady income.

Jeanne Mantala is 50 years of age with 2 children, aged 24 and 19. She has been a widow since 2018. She lost her husband due to an illness and lives with her children in her own home.

Jeanne Mantala has asked for a loan so she can pay for gardening tools and pot plants to create more flowers for her valuable customers. She started her business back in 2018, it was started as a hobby as she always loved her flowers. She also sells cooked food at a nearby food stall which she earns income from. With the revenue earned, she will build her family a home unit that will help bring income to her home.

Jeanne Mantala has been with South Pacific Business Development (Vanuatu) Ltd for over a year now and this is her second loan. She has been faithful in making her loan repayments in a timely manner. Through her loans, Jeanne Mantala is inspired to make her business grow so she can improve her family's living conditions.
