Charley Annette's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase retail goods to stock up her small kitchen shop for her uphill neighboring customers to increase her income and pay her children's school fees.

Charley Annette's story

Charley Annette is a 41-year-old mother of three children, ages 18, 11 and 6. She is happily married and her husband works for a logistics services company. Charley Annette lives with her husband and children in an apartment which is located just 10 minutes walk to Port Vila city. Her community is very small, and there are a lot of government offices located there and two primary schools as well. The main industry is the service industry. Covid-19 has affected Vanuatu, causing 70 percent of its employment to be terminated. It has been hard to earn a steady income.

Charley Annette has requested a loan to purchase retail goods so she can stock up her small kitchen shop that will better provide for her customers. As she lives uphill and the main shops are downhill, it can be very tiring just walking to and from for shopping. So she decided to start her small business; this was in early 2020.

With the revenue she earns, she will pay her children's school fees. Charley Annette dreams of having her own retail shop so she can sell her products to locals and tourists that pass by. This is her second loan with South Pacific Business Development (Vanuatu) Ltd. She has successfully repaid her first loan on time.Through her loans, Charley Annette is motivated to expand her business so she can become a successful businesswoman.
