El Pedregal Cooperative Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to invest in the growth of the community greenhouse and plant nursery eco-business.

El Pedregal Cooperative Group's story

Meet El Pedregal! This cooperative was founded in 2012 by 17 rural families that dedicated themselves to planting and selling flowers, plants and fruit trees.

The cooperative is managed by the members. With a lot of dedication and hard work, they have became the biggest provider of plants, trees and flowers for gardening companies in Honduras’s capital Tegucigalpa. Thanks to this coop, El Pedregal now is the place to go for plants, flowers and trees in bulk in Honduras.

Today the association has 51 members and plans to help more families by providing training, seeds and tools for them to become members and also provide for their families with this environmentally friendly economic activity.

El Pedregal cooperative is seeking a loan to provide members with tools, seeds and resources for the families that are part of their supply chain to diversify their portfolio, increase efficiency and grow their sales.

This cooperative is key to protecting the Biological Reserve of Uyuca, in which their community is located. One hundred and forty species of birds and 80 species of mammals live safely in this reserve, under the watch of the families from El Pedregal, that both prevent deforestation and extinguish fires during the summer season.

Thanks for contributing to El Pedregal’s economic development!
