Yuni's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to invest in a bulk purchase of silk and batik supplies.

Yuni's story

Yuni is an artisan from Indonesia who specializes in silk batik shawls and scarves. She would like to invest in a bulk purchase of silk and batik supplies. Yuni has been selling through Novica since 2006. This is her story:

Yuni learned the art of batik when she was very young from her mother. "She has been making batik at home in Java for over 23 years, while waiting each day for my father to come home from the sea. We still design together, especially the floral and bird motifs that are typical in Pekalongan batik. My husband Rieckey also helps me a lot, but as a local Balinese woman, I'm very proud of the fact that I can have the career that I love and to be able to provide for myself and my family."

"I am so thankful to all who support me with this loan. The loan I got from you last year made me able to pass the crisis time of Covid-19 for about a year. This microcredit gives me a chance to produce and buy raw materials. There are many traditional batik artisans in my hometown who mostly use silk material becoming bankrupt due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Thank you, all!"
