Irene's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase more sacks of sugar, salt and maize flour to sell.

Irene's story

Irene is 23 years old and lives in the town of Kabuusu in the Makindye region of Uganda. For the past eight years, Irene has been working hard to manage her retail shop, which sells essential items like sugar, salt, cooking oil and soft drinks.

To help expand her business, Irene has requested a loan of 2,000,000 Ugandan shillings (UGX) from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase more sacks of sugar, salt and maize flour to sell, and will help Irene to generate greater profits and manage to repay the loan on time. Irene hopes that in the future she will be able to expand the business into a wholesale shop. Irene is a member of BRAC's Microfinance Program.
