Edgardo Rafael's story

Edgardo Rafael is a 32-year-old microentrepreneur living in the city of Cartagena with his life partner. He has 4 years of experience providing services of upholstery, and making and repairing furniture.

From a young age he wanted to have his own business, and for that reason the decided to learn this trade with a family member. After several years of work and practice he decided to continue on his own opening a small shop. He bought machines and tools for the business, and nowadays he is well positioned in the market. He had to move to a bigger shop where he is more comfortable working, and he provides job to a lot of people who help him making his products.

This activity has allowed him to give his family a good quality of life and make his business grow. He has potential customers but due to COVID-19 and its presence around the world, his activity diminished due to biosafety issues. His incomes decreased dramatically, and for that reason he decided to join the Santo Domingo Foundation to request his first Kiva loan with the purpose of investing in working capital and buy foam and fabrics.
