Emily's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped a widowed mother to buy high quality certified seeds and fertilizer in order to improve production, generate more income and improve her quality of life.

Emily's story

Emily is a 32-year-old widowed woman of 3 school-going children who does not waste her life opportunities. She is a mixed dairy and crop farmer who has farmed for many years. Through farming, she has made major accomplishments in her life.

Using this loan, Emily wants to buy farming inputs, which she will use to optimize her production and support her family this first quarter of 2021.

Unlike most microfinance institutions in Kenya that have imposed very complicated procedures in funds acquisition, thereby discouraging smallholder farmers, Juhudi Kilimo is working closely with Kiva to make loan acquisition for a smallholder farmer easy and convenient.

Emily hopes that Kiva lenders will respond positively to her loan request.
