Grace's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy farm inputs, such as certified seeds and high-nutrient fertilizers, to improve her production and make profits to support her household.

Grace's story

It’s a special month to celebrate women around the world. Grace (33) recalls how she used to face many ups and downs in her farming business.

Grace lives in the Makutano area of Kenya and has lovely children. Her family is the greatest thing in her life and something that makes her feel accomplished in life. Although she has only farmed for the past ten years, Grace is working hard and learning good farming practices.

The biggest constraint to Grace's success is the use of poor-quality fertilizers and a lack of certified seeds. Grace is seeking this loan to buy farm inputs, such as certified seeds and high-nutrient fertilizers. This loan will enable her to improve her production through the use of quality farm inputs. This intervention will help Grace fill the increasing demand for food in the market and, in the process, generate more income to repay the loan and elevate her family's quality of life.

Juhudi Kilimo has partnered with Kiva to provide financial services to smallholders around Kenya. Through these financial services, farmers now can buy productive assets and important agricultural inputs for use on their farms.
