El Esfuerzo Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy wholesale supplies of milk, pastries, oil, flour for baking and traditional donuts.

El Esfuerzo Group's story

Meet the entrepreneurs of El Esfuerzo, a community association of Pro Mujer in Nicaragua. Rosa Emilia (In the photo she appears sitting at the front of her group) is one of its members. She is 64 years old, she is cheerful, helpful, and she likes community work. She is a retired teacher and managed to get her only 24-year-old daughter to study at university for a Bachelor of Social Sciences.

A loan will allow her to continue with her bakery to buy wholesale supplies of milk, pastries, oil, flour for baking and traditional donuts. With the proceeds she bought her own oven.

"I like that people like my work and that they tell me your products are delicious and unique," says Emilia, who has to find strategies to make her business profitable. Her main challenge is the ups and downs in raw material costs.
