A loan helped to buy animal feeds which she will use to improve her dairy animal farming.

Mary's story

Mary is a 35-year-old mother living in Bomet, a town whose surroundings have vast agricultural potential with numerous small farms and also vast agricultural enterprises. She is a mixed dairy and crop farmer who has farmed for the past few years.

The major impediment to the development of small holding farms in Kenya is lack of short-term credit facilities. Juhudi Kilimo, in partnership with Kiva, is working hard to support small holder farmers in Kenya through financing therefore guaranteeing their survival.

Mary is seeking this loan to buy animal feeds which she will use to improve her dairy animal farming and make more dairy milk income to support her family. Supporting her with a loan will be key in facing the financial crisis that has been brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.
