Rose's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to pay for new patterned fabrics and sewing materials to stock up and better provide for her customers.

Rose's story

Rose Mary lives in an urban area that is 5 minutes’ drive to the city of Port Vila. Her community is very small. A majority of its houses are shanty homes, and the main industry is food. As Vanuatu has lost 70% of its employment, it has been difficult for one to earn a steady income. Rose Mary is 59 years of age and happily married, and she has five grown-up children. She lives with her husband in a small shanty home unit.

Rose Mary has requested a loan to help her purchase new patterned fabric and sewing materials, with which she will stock up to better provide her customers. She also sells cooked meals to earn extra income. She has been in her business for over a year now. She makes different colored bedding, curtains, skirts and island dresses to suit her customers' needs and wants. With the revenue earned, she will build her family their dream home on her piece of land, which is located in a rural district 20 minutes from Port Vila. This is Rose Mary's second loan with South Pacific Business Development (Vanuatu) Ltd. She has successfully repaid her first loan on time. Through her loans, Rose Mary is motivated to expand her business so she can improve her family's living conditions.
