Salanieta's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase bales of dried kava, packaging materials, a pounder, a scoop, and large storage containers.

Salanieta's story

In Fiji, kava is used during many occasions, such as birthdays and weddings, welcoming of guests, or even after a long day of work.

Salanieta (37) has been selling sweets to children for a few months and has opted to begin selling kava to her customers. She recognizes this opportunity as a wise investment as her village, Lawai, is a famous tourist destination.

It is famous for carrying out traditional Fijian pottery workshops and Salanieta is now in need of a loan to carry this venture out.

With a loan, Salanieta plans to purchase bales of dried kava, packaging materials, a pounder, a scoop, and large storage containers.

The kava drink is prepared every time a tourist group arrives in the village. This is done by squeezing a muslin bag filled with powdered kava in a large basin of water.

Salanieta is excited to be part of the kava industry, as she has seen many others benefit from its demand.
