Progresa Amargura Group's story

Progresa Amargura is a communal group formed by 10 members who are in their sixth loan cycle. They feel very committed and want to continue working together to get ahead. In the photograph, you can see three people, who are the representatives of the board of directors, the president, the secretary, and the treasurer.

Teodosia, age 44, is the president of the communal bank Progresa Amargura. She is considered to be a hard-working woman and an early riser. She has a great will to get ahead for the well-being of her three children, ages 17, 10, and the little one, age 7. Together, she and her partner work sufficiently to improve their quality of life.

For 13 years, she has planted crops and sold cacao, in addition to other crops of the zone. She seeks to improve her crops in production with technical assistance and training. Facing this situation, she is applying for her loan through Kiva for maintenance of her parcel of cacao in order to prune, weed, and strengthen it with compost in order to offer a good product of quality.

One of Teodosia's dreams is to be able to build her house with quality construction materials, and she seeks to enlarge her parcel [of land] and improve her monthly income.
