A loan helped me to scale up my products and grow my small business.
Staying healthy is a lifelong passion. My parents have gifted a dehydrator which instantly became a shared tool to make healthier "chips." Fruit chips, not potato chips. Just before my daughter was born, I made a few batches to prepare for her arrival. My delivery coach was eating banana chips and I asked her "how can you eat them?" "They are deep-fried plantains; you need to try mine." "Why doesn't someone make them like mine?" "Why don't I?" And the journey began. And an exciting journey it has been. I am interested in scaling up the product and making it available on a regional then national level. I look forward to providing employment for many in my community as I continue to work with the product and find out what my customer likes. Today my product is locally sold, but I aspire to make it a well-known and desired product. Besides the fruit chips and fruit crackers, I look forward to finding and creating other products uniquely designed for people to try. I have been in business since 4th grade when I made earrings out of telephone wire and sold them to classmates. I have created various products along the way and I always enjoy the creative process. I also have a BA from Alverno College and an MBA from Concordia University and I have taught, at colleges or seminars, the joy of owning a business to many others. I enjoy working with fruit and making and creating products to help benefit others. Today, my daughter is one of my employees and helps create products as well. Owning my own business is my personal desire. It is a natural extension of who I am. Health benefits and good quality ingredients are also key for any product with my name.
