Joyce's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy farm inputs that she will use to improve her production and make more income to support her family.

Joyce's story

Joyce (pictured carrying her child) is a 25-year-old mother living in Eldoret a town that was significantly stuck by the 2007–2008 Kenyan crisis when violence occurred in Kenya. Joyce is a mixed farmer who has been farming for five years, which enables her to support her family. Through farming, she has made her life meaningful.

Joyce is seeking a loan to buy farm inputs that she will use to improve her production and make more income to support her family. The major impediment to the development of smallholder farms in Kenya is the lack of short-term credit facilities. Juhudi Kilimo, in partnership with Kiva, is working hard to support smallholder farmers in Kenya by offering financing that will help to guarantee their survival. Joyce is hopeful that the Kiva lenders will respond positively to her loan request.
