Kerlys's story

Kerlys is a 36-year-old entrepreneur who lives in the city of Cartagena. She lives with her life partner and works offering electrical and construction services. She began this business due to unemployment and decided to begin her own business in order to continue supporting her family and to manage her own time. Currently she manages all kinds of civil engineering projects and electrical maintenance. She learned this work from her father, who worked in this field his whole life. Currently this business allows Kerlys to sustain her family and household. Her main customers are friends, neighbors, and passersby, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic which has impacted the whole world, her work has decreased due to concerns about biosecurity. Her
income has lowered drastically. For this reason she has joined the Cartagena Responds program in order to request her first Kiva loan from the Fundación Santo Domingo with the goal of investing the funds in her work so that she can buy cement, electric wire, sand, and electrical rods. Support her in this loan for her business.
