01_Nguekhokh Group's story

This group is made up of six brave women and is part of the Banc Villageois which has been in place since August 2008. They live in the same neighborhood and are drawn together through their affinity and friendship.

The women have a good command of credit and have always made their payments on time. Their principle business activity is commerce. Madame Julia, the leader, is 54. She is to the right of the photograph with her hand raised. She is a widow and a mother of 4 children, 2 girls and 2 boys, who are in school. She is also responsible for her deceased husband's 3 sons.

Madame Julia runs a small fruit juice business. She buys in bulk at the market for food products (milk, sugar, baobab fruit, hibiscus flower, and other ingredients) to prepare juice for resale at a factory in her neighborhood. Additionally she runs a shop where she sells dressmaking accessories. She has a good 10 years of experience in commerce.

With her loan she is going to buy 5 sacks of sugar, 3 sacks of milk, ginger, tamarind, hibiscus flower, essential oils, and bags. She has loyal customers at the factory. Her profits are going to enable her to take care of the children.
