Hellena's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy farming inputs which she will use to improve her production and make more income for her family this first quarter of 2021.

Hellena's story

Hellena (a repeat Kiva borrower) is a 67-year-old mother of seven children who has always been on the hunt for prosperity. Like any other caring woman, her hope is to give her family a solid reputation. Hellena has been a mixed dairy and crop farmer for the past forty years. Thanks to her passion and work ethics, she has made her life meaningful

Using this loan, Hellena plans to buy farming inputs which she will use to improve her production and make more income for her family this first quarter of 2021. Access to modern-quality farm inputs (fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides) is the pillar of agricultural revolution. However, in Kenya, a developing country, fertilizers and seeds allocation by the government is way below the needs of farmers. Since Juhudi Kilimo which is in partnership with Kiva, ventured in the affairs of smallholder farmers in Kenya, farmers can attest that there has been a significant improvement on inputs availability than earlier before.

Hellena is looking forward to your warm support through lending and has sent her votes of thanks in advance.
