A loan helped to hire transport that she will use to bring her perishable products to market.

Catherine's story

Smallholder women farmers are often marginalized in Kenya, but Catherine (35 years old and pictured above in her simple house) is not lying low and wants to fight for a brighter future. She is very hardworking. Catherine hails from a remote village in the Thika area of Kenya. This area has tough living conditions, and to survive, she must have a tough skin.

Catherine has defied all the odds and has chosen to work hard to meet the needs of her loving family. As the family's only breadwinner, Catherine works on her farm growing different crops.

Currently, Catherine is seeking a loan to hire transport that she will use to bring her perishable products to market.

To others, it might seem like a mere loan, but to Catherine, this loan is the biggest opportunity she will have this first phase of 2021 to change her life.
