A loan helped to buy cereals, which she plans to resell and earn more income to support her family.

Madrine's story

Madrine is a 33-year-old mother living in Nyahururu, an area endowed with natural beauty. She is a mixed dairy-and-crop farmer who has farmed for the past 21 years. Through farming, she has been able to meet her family’s enormous demands. Cereal trading is one of the most profitable ventures in her remote village.

Madrine is seeking this loan to buy cereals, which she plans to resell and earn more income to support her family. Unlike most microfinances in Kenya that have imposed very complicated procedures in funds acquisition thereby discouraging smallholder farmers, Juhudi Kilimo is working closely with Kiva to make loan acquisition for a smallholder farmers easy and convenient. Through this intervention, movement of funds in the rural communities has increased thereby alleviating rural poverty.

Be inspired to support Madrine with a loan to light up her flames of hope for a better future.
