Getrude's story

Getrude is a 29-year-old mother of two children living in Eldoret, a town that was significantly struck by the 2007–2008 Kenyan crisis when violence occurred in Kenya. She is a mixed dairy and crop farmer who has farmed for the past five years. Through her determination and work passion, Getrude has turned her life around.

Juhudi Kilimo’s partnership with Kiva is an effective tool for reducing poverty in Kenya, especially among women as they are the central actors in the rural areas. Getrude is seeking this loan to buy farm inputs to improve her production and make more income to support her family.
