El Cariñito Group's story

María Evangelina is 53 years old. She is a single mother of 2 children. They are already independent and support her financially to cover the household costs.

María Evangelina has set up a small business at her home. She sells second hand clothing, donuts and she also makes ice cream to increase her income. She hopes she will be able to add new products this year, such as bread or smoothies made of fruits produced in her highland community.

She is asking for a Kiva loan with Fundenuse to buy second hand clothing, donuts and ingredients for making ice cream. In a couple of years she plans to fix her home and make the place more spacious to accommodate her business.

María Evangelina belongs to the communal bank “El cariñito”, together with Esperanza who sells cosmetics, clothing and basic products, and María Auxiliadora who sells second hand clothing, cosmetics, makes ice cream and nacatamales.
