A loan helped to buy vegetables.

01_Keur Moussa 2 Awa Group's story

This group belongs to the "banc villageois" which was started in July 2008. It consists of six courageous women who live in the same village and share bonds of parenthood, friendship and solidarity. They have taken out several loans and have paid them back at maturity. Their main business is retail.

Mrs. Ndéye Fatou is 51 years old and she is the leader of the group. She is standing on the right hand side of the picture with her hand raised. She is married and has nine children including three boys. Four of the children attend school.

Mrs. Ndéye Fatou sells millet and vegetables. She runs a store in the market of her village. She has over 15 years of experience in that business. This loan will enable her to buy 20 bags of millet and seasonal vegetables, and to pay for transportation costs. She delivers vegetables to her customers.

The income from her sales will help her meet the costs of her children's schooling and the family's expenses, and to save money within the "banc villageois".
