Niéta Group's story
Mariya is a forty-two-year-old married woman who lives in a rural community in Mali with her husband and five children. Three of her children attend school and they range in age from four to twenty years old. She practices sheep fattening.
Her dream to provide for her needs and her children's health and education needs. Due to lack of working capital, she is seeking financial support from microfinance institutions such as RMCR. She visits the market in the neighbouring village to buy her stock and sells her animals for cash at the weekly fair.
This loan will be used to develop her sheep fattening business. Sheep fattening is profitable as her projected profit is approximately 75,000 CFA francs after selling six months later, or 12,500 CFA francs per month. With five years of experience in this industry, it is animal epidemics that cause her problems. NB: Because of COVID-19, she alone is representing the group in the photo.
