Lilian's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped a single mom to buy a variety of cereals, such as corn and beans, to sell.

Lilian's story

Living and working in Vihiga has been challenging, especially for Lilian (a 52-year-old single mom of two school-going children).

Lilian is a humble woman, who has worked hard to establish herself. She earns an income selling her farm produce, such as crops and animal products.

Lilian also earns a little income from her small businesses. Through these activities, she is able to give her family at least two meals per day.

Despite the prolonged dry seasons and frequent incidences of pests and diseases, which are very intense, Lilian has always looked forward to future accomplishments and success.

Lilian decided that the best way to boost her income is to improve her farm's productivity. She chose to run a side cereal business, which is one of the most profitable in the Vihiga region.

Lilian requested a loan to buy more cereals to sell to her customers to make more profits to support her family. Lilian believes that she will be able to make additional profits by increasing her cereal stock.

This loan is an opportunity that Lilian never had before. Her irregular income and lack of collateral security were the main issues preventing her from accessing a loan from commercial banks. Thanks to Juhudi Kilimo and Kiva, the lives of Lilian and her family will be changed for the better.

Lilian is so happy with this gesture of goodwill in her life.
