Paea's story

Greetings from Paea. She is a 34-year-old mother of three. She and her husband run a business of weaving and sewing. This is their primary source of income.

Paea weaves together with a group of women, where they weave taovala, mats and fihu, using both white and brown pandanus. She also runs a sewing business from her own home. She sews different styles of clothes, then sells them to earn money for her family.

Paea is a hard working mother, who has dedicated her time to her business and family. She gives her all to her businesses, knowing that her family depends on it.

In 2018, her house was affected by cyclone Gita that hit Tonga. Gita destroyed her roof and also her pandanus plot. Paea took a loan from SPBD and used it to buy pandanus for her weaving and also to help renovate her house, which is not yet finish. Paea plans to use her new loan to buy pandanus for her weaving and also help with the finishing touches on their new house.

In the future, her vision is to provide a good future for her children by increasing her profits from her business.
