Sheilah's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy farming essentials, which she plans to use to improve her production and to make more income to support her family during this tough global economic recession.

Sheilah's story

Sheilah is a 26-year-old mother living in Eldoret, a town that was struck significantly by the 2007–2008 Kenyan crisis when violence occurred in Kenya. She is a mixed dairy and crop farmer who has farmed for the past 10 years, enabling her be able to meet her family’s enormous demands.

The major impediment to the development of smallholder farms in Kenya is a lack of short-term credit facilities. Juhudi Kilimo, in partnership with Kiva, is working hard to support smallholder farmers in Kenya through financing therefore guaranteeing their survival. Sheilah is seeking this loan to buy farming essentials, which she plans to use to improve her production and make more income to support her family during this tough global economic recession.

Sheilah is hopeful that Kiva's lenders are able and willing to support her during this time when the world is focused on combating COVID-19. Thank you.
