Girasoles De San Juan Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy cooking utensils and spices for her recipes.

Girasoles De San Juan Group's story

Snack stands for Guatemalan snacks are very popular in Guatemala. They have become very profitable businesses that are found in all parts of rural Guatemala.

This is Aura's business. She's a married, 39-year-old mother of a 17-year-old son. She lives in the department/state of Sacatepéquez. Her husband works in upholstery.

Aura learned to make these snacks when she was younger and she realized that the business is profitable, so she opened one.

Aura's requesting her second Kiva loan because she needs to invest in a purchase of ingredients and continue with her business.

Aura's the secretary of the Girasoles de San Juan communal bank, along with six other women. They have small businesses like convenience stores, tortilla sales, food, and clothing. These women meet monthly to make their loan payments and participate in educational training sessions. The themes of these educational sessions cover some aspect of health, family, women, and businesses. They have also learned during the monthly trainings about the importance of planning, budgeting, and investing in their businesses so they'll be successful and profitable.

This combination of loans, education, and health services is called Microcrédito Plus.

Thank you, Kiva lender, for the vital role you play in the lives of these women and their progress!
